Marine-coastal
The TRANSFORMA-INNOVA program has set itself the objective of improving the livelihoods of coastal communities through sustainable management and preservation of marine and coastal resources.
To achieve this, science-based and participatory spatial planning processes will be developed to consolidate management tools for the effective preservation, management and sustainable use of marine-coastal resources and their application by local actors, as well as national institutions.
How are we going to do it?
-
A total of 10 management tools for the equitable and sustainable use and preservation of coastal and marine resources are applied by local actors, communities, ethnic communities in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
-
In the 4 blue value chains supported by TRANSFORMA+, a set of tools is implemented for monitoring the transformation towards sustainability with coastal communities, fishermen, producers and other relevant actors, to equitably benefit coastal communities.
-
With the support of TRANSFORMA-INNOVA, 25% of the protected mangrove cover will be under preservation, effective management and sustainable use, including the restoration of priority areas and the management of their services, such as blue carbon.
-
In each of the two FPIC (Free, Prior and Informed Consent) processes related to the program, a marginalized community expressed its interest or concerns.
